Upgrade

Objective: To ensure that OpenProject installations are up-to-date with the latest features and security patches.

Planning the Upgrade:​

  1. Review Release Notes: Before upgrading, review the release notes for new features, fixes, and any breaking changes.

  2. Test in Staging: Deploy the upgrade in a staging environment first to test compatibility and performance without affecting the production environment.

  3. Backup Data: Always back up your data and configuration before proceeding with an upgrade.

Performing an Upgrade:​

  1. Download the Latest Version: Obtain the latest version from the official OpenProject website or repository.

  2. Follow the Upgrade Guide: Follow the detailed upgrade instructions provided by OpenProject to update your installation.

  3. Monitor After Upgrade: Closely monitor the application after an upgrade for any issues.

Upgrade Frequency:​

  1. Security Updates: Apply as soon as they are released.

  2. Major and Minor Releases: Plan and schedule upgrades according to your organization’s capacity to handle changes.
