Upgrade and Update

1. Updates (Minor Version Changes)

  • Definition: Small releases within the same major version aimed at bug fixes, performance improvements, and minor feature enhancements.
  • Examples:
    • Faster GPU-based densification
    • Support for new drone/camera models (e.g., DJI, PhaseOne)
    • Workflow improvements like auto-detecting RTK/PPK corrections
  • Access: Free for users with an active Support & Upgrade (S&U) license
  • Frequency: Typically quarterly or as needed

2. Upgrades (Major Version Changes)

  • Definition: Major releases introducing significant new features or workflows
  • Examples:
    • Moving from v1.x → v2.x with enhanced large-scale performance
    • New corridor mapping workflows for roads, railways, pipelines
    • Integration with Pix4Dsurvey and CAD/GIS pipelines
    • Advanced LiDAR + photogrammetry fusion
  • Access: Requires an active S&U plan

3. Importance of Updates & Upgrades

  • Keeps software compatible with new drones, sensors, and workflows
  • Optimizes processing performance for very large datasets (100k+ images)
  • Provides access to latest photogrammetry algorithms
  • Maintains eligibility for official Pix4D support

4. How to Update or Upgrade

  1. Check License Status in your Pix4D Account Portal
  2. Download Latest Version from Pix4Dmatic download page
  3. Active S&U License: Receive both updates and major upgrades automatically
  4. Expired S&U License: Renew to regain access to updates and upgrades
