Upgrade and Update

Overview​

This guide explains how to upgrade Leica Cyclone 3DR to the latest version. Keeping the software up-to-date ensures access to new features, performance improvements, bug fixes, and enhanced security.

Before You Upgrade​

  • Backup Data: Save all project files, templates, and important settings before upgrading to prevent data loss.
  • Check System Requirements: Confirm that your computer meets the hardware and software requirements for the new version.
  • Review Release Notes: Understand changes, enhancements, and any prerequisites by reviewing the release notes provided by Leica Geosystems.

Upgrade via Desktop Application​

  • Check for Updates:

    • Open Cyclone 3DR.
    • Navigate to Help > Check for Updates.

  • Download and Install:

    • Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update if available.
    • Restart Cyclone 3DR to ensure all updates take effect.

Upgrade via Leica Geosystems Website​

  • Access the Website:

  • Download the Installer:

    • Locate the latest Cyclone 3DR version and download the installer file.

  • Manual Installation:

    • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • Restart your computer after installation to update all components properly.

After the Upgrade​

  • Verify Version: Open Cyclone 3DR and check the version under About to confirm a successful upgrade.
  • Reconfigure Settings: Review and adjust any settings that may have been reset.
  • Test Functionality: Confirm that all core features and workflows operate as expected.

Common Upgrade Issues​

  • Installation Errors: Ensure you have administrative privileges and that no other programs are interfering with the installation.
  • Performance Issues: Update drivers (especially GPU drivers) and check system resources if the software is slow or unstable.
